Renewable Energy Will Reach a New Milestone in 2023

July 10th marks National Energy Independence Day, and for the first time in U.S. history, greenhouse gas emissions from the power sector are expected to fall in 2023, according to London-based think tank Ember. As the world’s need for electricity continues to increase, expansion in renewables, such as solar and wind, regularly outpaces the growth in demand. This is exciting news for the future of our energy landscape as consumers switch to using green energy in their daily lives.

Every year, the U.S. recognizes National Energy Independence Day, which serves as a reminder of the importance of energy conservation. It also highlights using alternative forms of energy, such as solar, wind or geothermal, to help reduce consumers’ carbon footprints. Renewable energy, such as solar and wind power, emits significantly fewer greenhouse gasses than traditional energy sources. By harnessing the power of the sun, wind and water, we can drastically reduce our carbon footprint, mitigating the impacts of climate change. Transitioning to renewable energy sources helps to produce clean, emissions-free power, eliminating pollutants and creating healthier communities, prioritizing the well-being of our citizens.

National Energy Independence Day is an opportunity to reflect on our energy consumption patterns and understand ways to embrace and switch to sustainable practices. We can collectively substantially impact the environment by adopting simple energy-saving measures daily.

Retail energy competition plays a key role in the advancement of National Energy Independence.  Retail energy suppliers often invest in innovative technologies and renewable energy sources, which can help drive the transition to a more sustainable energy system. Attuned to the industry, suppliers are attentive to market dynamics and customer preferences. Shopping for retail energy is important for cost savings, green energy options, customizable plans, innovation and technology, and increased competition. By taking the time to compare prices and suppliers, consumers can find the best value and align their energy needs with their sustainability goals. Ultimately, shopping for retail energy can help promote a cleaner, greener energy future for everyone.

The Retail Energy Supply Association (RESA) encourages consumers to be active consumers of their energy needs, support National Energy Independence Day and shop for their energy needs.
